Job Role: Team Lead- Finance & Accounting Services
Location: Gurgaon
PQE: 6+ years
Responsibilities & QualificationsSpecifically, the Team Lead – Finance and Accounting Services will
- Supervise team of billers, assign work, and monitor their workload.
- Participate in billing work, along with the billing team Review and verify accuracy of billing and supporting documentation as required.
- Liaise with the client onshore billing group to ensure the offshore billing team is meeting all firm standards, raise questions and concerns, and collaborate on process improvements.
- Become an expert in the client’s billing system software, answer questions for the offshore billing team, and/or provide solutions to software challenges.
- Maintain and update procedural manuals as needed.
- Research and respond to inquiries regarding billing issues and problems.
- Become familiar with and apply Firm billing policies.
- Mentor and coach staff. Provide professional development opportunities to them and seek them for yourself.
- Ensure that all billers understand the billing system’s functionality and use it appropriately.
- Collaborate with the onshore billing manager to improve processes.
- Provide periodic reports to client onshore billing manager, re: work progress and status of monthly billing goals.
- Ability to effectively interact and communicate with onshore billing managers, attorneys, and secretaries.
- Review department workload and make recommendations on staffing levels.
- Participate in recruitment.
- Hold department meetings to communicate expectations, request and provide workload updates, seek, and recommend process improvements, and open dialog to improve morale and engender team spirit.
- Utilize computerized accounting software programs ( Aderrant , Excel, Word).
- Ensure strict confidentiality at all times
Experience
- 6+ years of related experience, with 1-2 years of team leader experience preferred.
- Experience working in a growing, fast-paced organization with a dynamic environment.
- Excellent track record in previous client support/customer Service engagements.
- Experience working directly with a US, AU or UK client.
- Aderrant knowledge required.

Technical Skills
- Drafting client invoices, sharing with matter responsible lawyers for review.
- Saving prebills and dispatched copies of invoices to document management system.
- Managing invoices rejected by client in eBilling platforms – Prepare appeal spreadsheet and saving these to relevant matter in DMS.
- Assisting with opening new matters, saving documents in DMS for new matters.
- Generating billing reports including WIP report, overdue invoices report with ageing.
- Application of payments received to outstanding AR invoices.
- Issuing credit notes to clients and applying these to the outstanding report.
- Issuing remittance advices and statement of accounts.
- Submitting invoices to eBilling platform.
- Moving payments from general trust to office account and vice-versa, per trust compliance.
- Preparing trust requisitions and seeking approvals from clients and partners.
- Conducting weekly, bi-monthly, monthly trust reconciliations.
- Maintaining matter-wise trust client files.
- Assisting trust auditors seeking files/documents during audits.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree required (Bachelor in Commerce), and C.A.(Chartered Accountant) or MBA in Business, Accounting or related field is preferred but not required
